Orange numbers are dividends. The yellow number is the divisor. Blue numbers are quotients, which are brought up to be answer digits in dark blue. Purple numbers are remainders, which are also used for future dividends.

Each step involves the dividend divided by the divisor, with the first step using the leftmost digit of the original dividend as a dividend. All divisions give a result in the form of a quotient and remainder.  Remember, dividend = divisor * quotient + remainder.

Each step also brings its quotient up as an answer digit and brings the next digit of the original dividend down. This digit is combined with the remainder to form the next step's dividend.

This process continues until any dividend from previous steps is repeated again. All quotients / answer digits from that previous step to the most recent one make up the section of repeating digits.
